There’s something magical about winter on the water. Crisp air, quiet mornings, and the thrill of dropping your line through a hole in the ice. In our latest ice fishing adventure, we packed up our gear, loaded the Eskimo Outbreak 350 XD ice shanty, and headed to Mohawk Pond in Connecticut for an unforgettable day on the hard water.
First Ice, First Vlog
This trip marked the beginning of our ice fishing season, and we wanted to bring you along with us in true Hook N Worm fashion, raw, real, and packed with fishing fun. From the moment we hit the ice to setting up our shanty and dropping lines, this adventure was all about enjoying every part of the experience.
Spotlight: Eskimo Outbreak 350 XD Shanty
One of the highlights of the day was getting our Eskimo Outbreak 350 XD ice shelter set up and dialed in. This hub-style shanty is built with anglers in mind. Roomy interior, insulated StormShield fabric, and a smart no-trip door that makes entering and exiting with gear a breeze.
The 63 square feet of fishable space gave us plenty of room to move around, jig, and drill without feeling cramped, even as the cold wind picked up. The gray interior helps bounce light around inside, making it easier to see what we’re doing without extra lights.

Ice Fishing at Mohawk Pond
Mohawk Pond is one of those quintessential Connecticut ice fishing spots. When conditions allow for safe ice (typically 7 inches or more for foot traffic), it’s a great place to test your skills and chase trout, perch, and other cold-water species.
On this trip, we set up our shanty, drilled our holes, and waited for the action. Ice fishing is a blend of patience and excitement. You never know when that next tug will come. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or new to the ice, there’s something rewarding about spending a day outdoors, bundled up and focused on the next bite.
